The History Center is responsible for a number of active programs and projects:

Virtual Museum:  The Center seeks to educate the younger public through this unique web site, aimed at pre-college students and their teachers. The Virtual Museum explores the global social impact of electrical and information sciences and technologies, and demonstrates the relevance of engineering and engineers to society.

Milestones Program:  The IEEE established the Electrical Engineering Milestones program in 1983 to honor significant achievements in the history of electrical and electronics engineering.

Oral Histories:  The Center conducts oral histories with leading engineers. There are over 200 full transcript histories on the web site.

IEEE Fellowship:  The IEEE Fellowship in Electrical History supports either one year of full-time graduate work in the history of electrical science and technology at a college or university of recognized standing, or up to one year of post-doctoral research.

Internship:   The intern program seeks to provide research experience for graduate students in the history of electrical and computer technologies.

IEEE Life Member Prize Paper:  The prize is awarded annually for the best paper on the history of electrical technology published during the preceding year.

Post Doctoral Fellow:  For a recent Ph.D., funded by Rutgers University.

Conferences:  Historical conferences under the auspices of the History Center

Special Projects:  The History Center undertakes special projects for organizational units of the IEEE.

Rutgers Activities:  Center Staff teach courses at Rutgers University.
