IEEE Committee on Engineering
Accreditation Activities
Purpose
This
process describes the method that
will be employed for the CEAA review
of accreditation visit reports. This
procedure uses four appendices in
its operation: (1) Appendix
A, the Report Review Form, Appendix
B, a diagram of the IEEE
Accreditation Activity Processes;
(3) Appendix
C, the Deliverables Expected
with Visit Report; and (4) Appendix
D, Grading Guidelines for Visit
Reports. These appendices provide
detailed guidance on the use of this
procedure. The process described
herein is shown in Appendix B as
"Accreditation Activity Process".
Objectives
The
objectives of this process are:
-
To
ensure that ABET engineering
accreditation standards and
criteria are applied uniformly
to all accreditation visits for
which IEEE provides the evaluator.
-
To
permit timely CEAA participation
in the ABET due process activities.
-
To
provide feedback to program
evaluators to help them improve
their performance.
-
To
provide feedback to the CEAA
Training Coordinator to improve
evaluator training.
-
To
provide an early warning to the
CEAA Chair and IEEE
representatives to the EAC of
those accreditation
recommendations that may be
inconsistent with the
application of ABET
accreditation criteria.
-
To
identify program evaluators
whose performance is
sufficiently superior as to
warrant consideration for
membership in the CEAA.
-
To
identify program evaluators
whose performance is inferior
and who require special
consideration with respect to
training and/or future visit assignments.
-
To
provide public recognition of
the efforts put forth by the
program evaluators.
Process Owner
This
process is owned and maintained by
the Chair of the CEAA, who is
responsible for its on-going implementation.
