Indexing & Database Production

The IEEE Indexing Group is responsible for processing IEEE published research articles to ensure the addition of the articles to the IEEE Xplore® online delivery platform. The group generates the metadata needed for each article and in addition, where possible, combines this with data supplied by the IEE's INSPEC information group. This data is also incorporated into the annual indexes that appear in the last issue of each IEEE periodical.

In addition to the ongoing data load to IEEE Xplore and the annual index creation, the group can arrange to produce specially cumulated indexes as per the schedule below.

Special Indexing Projects:

  1. Data extraction for Society Annual CD-ROM Projects.
IEEE Indexing can extract all A&I records and PDF files from IEEE Xplore for Societies to use in annual CD-ROM projects

  2. Special Combined Indexes: Multiyear (no standardization of data)
IEEE Indexing can extract all existing indexing information and concatenate it into a single multiyear index. Changes in indexing terminology over time will not be accounted for.

Final index can be delivered as camera-ready pages (600dpi) or PDF files of finished pages. Any additional printing/shipping to be handled by the society.

  3. Special Combined Indexes: Multi-year (indexing terms reworked to account for changes over time)
IEEE Indexing can extract all existing indexing information and concatenate it into a multiyear index.

Final index can be delivered as camera-ready pages (600dpi) or PDF files of finished pages. Any additional printing/shipping to be handled by the Society.
